Our Mission

Showcase area artists and craftsmen while being culturally significant for the city of Newberry.

Our Gallery

Newberry's Firehouse Gallery was established around the same time as the Newberry Main Street Organization (NMSO). The gallery, originally a firehouse, was converted into a clinic, then to the gallery. Firehouse gallery works in cooperation with NMSO, the city of Newberry and most importantly,  volunteers. Firehouse Gallery was established with the mission of celebrating art and culture in the community.  Many area artists beautiful work can be found here the gallery works with a small yearly budget and hosts art shows quarterly.

Gallery News and updates

Leaving a legacy for the love of art and neighbors...

Larry Wilson, our beloved gallery curator will soon be leaving to begin a new adventure. He is an accomplished painter based in High Springs, Florida. He has drawn inspiration from the Florida landscape and related themes with vibrant colors, mostly in oils. Larry has been an artist for more than fifty years after graduating with an MFA from the University of Florida. Additionally, he has served as a volunteer at the Newberry Firehouse Gallery for nearly a decade and served as it's curator for the past 7 years.  The gallery is currently going through some transitions and our Newberry community will soon see Larry heading further south for the next chapter of his life.  His influence as an accomplished artist and curator is beyond words and we regret the loss of his presence in the gallery and with Newberry Main Street Organization. Many of his images are of varied themes designed to capture rural scenes with striking colors, shadows and shapes, making images meaningful and evoking a sense of beauty in what otherwise might be considered ordinary. In contrast to most artists, Larry has hand crafted a majority of his frames with careful detail to colors and designs that complement his images. His work has been featured in exhibitions at the gallery with four of his images currently on display.  He has been awarded ribbons of excellence by his peers in some of the quarterly seasonal exhibitions and has done many voluntary artistic renderings for holiday displays including several for the Christmas season.

When not in the studio, he can often be found on local golf courses.

He's always had a love for animals, including horses and most recently caring for nearly a dozen cats.

Larry will be helping in transitioning the space in the coming weeks and will be at the gallery from 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday, December 14th.  If you're able to stop by and say hello, please do so.

On behalf of the artist community and Newberry as a whole, we extend love, gratitude and best wishes to our friend and fellow artist, Larry Wilson

New Beginnings

Although we are losing Larry, we are ecstatic to announce our new gallery curator, Ann Miller-French. Ann moved to Newberry three years ago from Wisconsin with her husband a Navy vet. Ann is the owner of Angelik Hands LLC , an embodiment coach, artist and holistic wellness advocate for the past 10 years. She is passionate about faith, family, and fun as well as incorporating art into those areas of her life. Ann is looking forward to fostering the love of art in the Newberry community and surrounding area. As an Artist, you can find some of Ann‘s artwork located in the Firehouse Gallery, paying tribute to joy, harmony, and how it flows throughout her daily life.
